Welcome! We are pleased that you are considering rushing and possibly joining a Greek Organization.
This is a tough decision to make, but we at TKE have all been faced with the same decision and feel that you should consider joining a Fraternity for the extensive benefits which we can offer you as a Fraternity For Life. Your choice is to belong, and your challenge is to become. The below Q&A has been designed to help you better understand what the process to joining TKE will involve.
What is rush?
Rush is a one week process in which interested students at Florida State can come and enjoy dinner and various activities with brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon. Rush is the most important activity of any fraternity being that it brings in new members which is the lifeblood of any organization. Our doors are open at 8:00 pm and will close at 12:00 am.
What is a bid?
A bid is a formal invitation to join the fraternity. All fraternities and sororities extend bids to those whom they feel best exemplify the ideals of their organization. All recipients of a bid are encouraged to speak to their families and friends before accepting. Joining a fraternity is a decision that affects family, friends, and the fraternity itself.
What will I be doing as a new member or "pledge"?
Very simply put, a lot of things. Our pledge process is an eight week process, in which new members get to know our brotherhood better as well as learn more about the history of Tau Kappa Epsilon. Our brothers will closely monitor pledges so that they do well in school while also getting involved with our chapter. We can help new members achieve and maintain good grades, as well as teach them some of the most important principles of college life, including time management.
